Our Mission
Our mission is to be a catalyst for positive change here at the FUNDS. We are seeking to rebuild trust in the organization, renew our hope in the future of the careers we desire to accomplish here, and lay a foundation for a forward movement that unites both sides of this organization into a dynamic partnership that excels in thinking outside of the box, embracing new challenges head on knowing that together is the only way to make an impact for our members, their families and ultimately the beneficiaries.
The UMWA Welfare & Retirement Fund Employee Union (Funds Employee Union for short) was established on April 17th, 1973, following a certification election ordered by the NLRB.

The first week of formal bargaining sessions occured August 26th, 2024 virtually through a shared Teams Conference.
Week 2 of formal bargaining sessions starts today, September 3rd, 2024 due to the observance of the Labor Day Holiday.
Non-economic proposals are still being addressed and exchanged with counter offers for language that helps to address the memberships need for a clear outlined process that integrates accountability, and partnership while fostering good working relationships between members and management/HR surrounding the process of discipline, grievance procedures, steps and necessary documentation, managers rights, and information needed to administer the contract.
